Pros

Nothing you can't get anywhere else

Cons

If you've ever done a sales job, this will be a insult to you. Your commission is based off a percentage metric, where every call you take is counted against you. So when you get tech support calls, billing calls, or even calls you can't sell on it will hurt your numbers. Spectrum got rid of their customer service reps and dumped those calls on sales. So let's say you work hard and sell 15 PSUs. That's a good day! But then the next three days you take 35 customer service calls. All your sales are gone and there's nothing you can do about it. You will get more calls about people's services not working or people who already have services than any sort of actual sales call. They will tell you "any call is a sales call" but you can't sell something twice. If you need a job and some "experience " it's alright but any review saying the pay is good must have worked minimum wage before because they aren't being honest about the actual job. Youre just customer service.

Pros

Work the system- they can’t fire you during the probationary/ promotional period. Don’t do anything major, collect a check and use the rest of your time to find something better. Health benefits are great. I’ll give it the one star for that. I made good money at times, but they WILL hype up the whole room full of 50-100 people (in the same room cmon!) over a lucky sale and push you to believe in unrealistic numbers.

Cons

Supervisors will push you to cheat your way through and then deny blame if you get caught, so stay above board! They are there to line their pockets and you are a pawn for them to collect from. As soon as you leave a new person will fill your seat and they do NOT care about you. Don’t drink the kool aid! Leads have been ran through a million times. They should be putting fresh leads in but instead hold them out as a **reward** which is so toxic it’s unbelievable. Having been in this industry successfully for a very long time I can tell you wholeheartedly this is just a poorly glamorized pyramid scheme and the working conditions will eat away at you.

Pros

Excellent 401k and medical insurance

Cons

Perhaps the best way to describe Spectrum is a company that lacks direction and identity. There is a distinct lack of company culture, which leads to an environment of work silos and attitudes of self preservation above all else. Employees that I interact with are all terrified of losing their jobs. This is not normal, it is not healthy, and it is creating a work environment of animosity rather than collaboration. Like many companies, there are many layoffs happening right now. This is very unfortunate and a symptom of modern corporate culture, of which Spectrum is clearly not above. The most concerning trend I am seeing is mass relocations of employees to offices in other states without any discernable benefit. Recently an office of engineers was told to relocate or lose their jobs, but none of these engineers require a specific geographic location to do their jobs, they all log into remote devices, making the move costly and meaningless. This is just one example of the strange happenings I have observed, and I believe our workforce at large is experiencing a major impact to their morale because of it. People are simply afraid that they are next. I have seen tenured, highly talented people get shown the door, despite a history of exceptional performance. I cannot in good conscience recommend anyone start a career here, as history is demonstrating a lack of stability within these walls.
