Pros

The things I have enjoyed most are the advancement opportunities and the people I work with. Speedway has great benefits as well. The possibilities are endless, hard work and determination really do pay off. The training that is offered for every position is in-depth and everyone is there to support you. I started off part-time in our stores seven years ago, today I work in an HR capacity. I have enjoyed my career with Speedway and can't wait to see where it takes me.

Cons

There really are no cons.

Pros

If you're at a good store with good coworkers and good management, this can be a fun, wonderful job. Co-Manager and up get decent pay. Always opportunity for quick advancement, especially since they bought Hess. If you're "relocatable", you will go far. Great potential bonuses.

Cons

Promotion based on how well the DM likes you rather than competency. High turnover due to low pay and incessant corporate pressure to work harder. Corporate constantly says that they value employees, but treat them like tools and have no trust, e.g. most cameras are pointed at employee areas. Above Cashier, they move you constantly from store to store. Very strict and binding corporate protocols that do the managing for in-store managers, turning them into babysitters. Any communications to employees from corporate come off as propoganda (You Are Speedway, etc.). No communication to/from upper managers besides surprise inspections and scoldings. Oh yeah, and if you get robbed, you pretty much get fired.

Pros

Nice Customers Okay Management Can be a fun environment, depending on attitude An 8 hour day goes by pretty fast For part-time, typically 4-10 hours is a normal shift, not too bad

Cons

If hours were a bit better, people wouldn't call off or no call no show, then the company would be a bit easier to work for. Management doesn't care too much how many hours you work. Don't go into overtime, the district manager will flip. It's difficult to not go into overtime at this store because people are at least 10 minutes late
