Great place to learn customer service

Pros

Interactions with as many as 1500 customers per week. This makes for plenty of opportunity to hone your customer service skills. CSRs can have flexible schedules to work around school, family or other employment opportunities. Hours and advancement are, for the most part, awarded based on merit.

Cons

A crap shoot as to how good the manager is. They will give anybody that is willing an opportunity to fail as a manager. They give lip service to the "managers work for their employees" ideal, but management training does not emphasize how to treat employees. Most managers are petty tyrants wielding their authority indiscriminately. Some, however, are good competent leaders that care.

Horrible place to work

Pros

Some coworkers were nice to work with

Cons

Management was horrible, my last paycheck was not given to me, they did not respect my availability and I was working 40+ hours a week (this was my second job) and I was only part time! horrible wages and extremely high expectations for just a gas station and low pay Trying to sell candy and scanning rewards cards was a nightmare and your job depends on it. I always had creepy guys hitting on me and was by myself at night... if an incident were to happen I was alone and was screamed at for calling off when my newborn son was sick with over 100 degree fever.

Pros

Customers get to know you and become your regulars, decent work crew depending on how managers utilize optimal scheduling, flexibility, above average starting pay in my state. I've loved my job since day one, if you build good rapport with co-workers and management you'll definitely get the respect and recognition you deserve.

Cons

If you cannot keep up with a fast-environment, this is not the job for you. You have to be a quick learner, fast, efficient, and should be able to have the initiative to do things without being told to do so. For lack of a better word, if you're a lazy individual that likes to stand around an entire shift - this is definitely NOT the job for you. Also, there are really no breaks unless you smoke cigarettes. Personally, I'd rather have no breaks and get paid for a full 8/9 hours of work than miss out on 30 mins of pay.
