If at all possible, choose a different place of employment!
Pros
Time seems to move very quickly because there is so much to do in so little time. Pretty safe work environment because most Speedways are busy 24/7 it seems. Most Speedways pay above minimum wage from the start. Advancement within the company comes easily as long as you get along with the managers.
Cons
No scheduled breaks. If you're on register, don't ever expect any sort of break. Even a quick trip to the restroom will warrant dirty looks. A lot of the old timers just sit back and watch new hires do all of the work that HAS to be done. Very few hours given to new hires (I'm currently getting 8/wk), yet they continue to hire more staff. Multiple co-managers/shift leaders (black shirts) who will all tell you different things and do not accept responsibility when rules and advice conflicts. WAY too many chiefs and not enough Indians. If you don't like your managers, you WILL hate your job. Very little recognition given for any good you do, but you will constantly get admonished for every little thing. The staff will ridicule other staff members behind their backs. No employee discount whatsoever. You're not even allowed a free fountain drink or refill. Absolutely dreadful place to work. I wish I would've taken the advice I read in other reviews upon being offered the job. My advice: choose McDonald's over Speedway any day.
