The pay isn't enough for the amount of work that you do. The turnover rate is so high because of the lack of hours that are given to each store and the lack of pay raises. The pay makes it hard to allow benefits to be taken out.

Shifts are generally nine to ten hours long with no breaks. Even a quick smoke break is to be done while taking out the trash or sweeping the parking lot. Opportunities for advancement are incredibly slight. At my store, when a promotion became available, rather than promote from within, it was given to a woman who was being demoted from another store. Job duties are vast and constantly being added to. There are only two cashiers working each shift, which generally means one mans the register and the other completes the side work. This leads to long lines, angry customers, and nothing getting done properly.
