Pros

Some of the customers are quite nice.

Cons

Stores are rundown, floors and ceilings are deteriorating, mice and insects in stores. Lots of food wasted like milk, and roller grill items. No recycling of cardboard or plastic cups, customers dump tons of trash in receptacles. Part-time status only, winter hours suck even though it's still busy. Drunken and miserable customers, some very scary late at night for female employees closing alone. General Managers are not always kind or intelligent, bonuses never come for selling candy on the racks at counter. Some customers don't want a Speedway card, they don't want Corporate tracking their purchases, or daily lives. No discounts or breaks, so you are forced to buy expensive, crappy food at full price while you work because you are not allowed to leave the grounds. Horrible place to work. I can't wait to quit. I've been depressed ever since I was hired. It's a bait and switch on their website when you apply. You will never get medical benefits, bonuses or 401k unless you become a manager. You will be scheduled for very few hours, or forced to work many hours when someone is sick or fired. They hire lots of part-timers for sometimes as low as 16 hours a week, so no one qualifies for any benefits. They employ a company called BARS that shops at various Speedway stores and sets you up for an illegal tobacco sale if you don't card anyone who looks under 40. My coworker was sited for selling Newport 100s to an African-American guy in his early 30s. He was old enough, but our store still got ticketed because she neglected to card him.
