Great work-life balance, but deteriorating culture and low pay

Pros

Unlimited PTO, fully remote flexibility with a great office option, and additional R&R holidays make for an excellent work-life balance.

Cons

The culture has changed markedly over the past few years. A once-collaborative environment built on mutual trust and shared wins has given way to one defined by self-preservation and layoff anxiety. Any sense of collective purpose has quietly eroded, with little effort from C-suite leadership to restore it. R&D leadership has a pattern of introducing new processes before diagnosing the underlying issues driving existing ones. There is no coherent long-term strategy — roadmaps shift frequently enough to make meaningful investment in any initiative feel futile. Projects are deprioritized or quietly shelved within weeks of launch. Compensation sits below market. Pay transparency is a worthwhile policy, but it loses its goodwill when the message it delivers is that you're tens of thousands of dollars behind peers elsewhere. Beyond pay, disengagement pervades most levels of management, leaving teams chronically under-resourced and without clear direction. At the executive level, vision is largely absent. Shouting "Lets Goooo" repeatedly at company-wide meetings is not a strategy. Unsurprisingly, job security is a persistent concern across the organization.
