Pros

Work-life balance is generally decent and there is flexibility when you need it. My peers are kind and intelligent - I truly love working with the people on my immediate team.

Cons

Leadership handled the recent round of layoffs in a callous manner and doesn't seem to have the first clue about how to present our upcoming roadmap in a coherent way. I've completely lost confidence in them. They've canceled our mid-year reviews as well and are trying to sell this as a good thing. Advancement at Sprout is difficult enough as it is, and this will surely make it even more difficult in the near term.

Great flexibility, but compensation and communication need improvement

Pros

Pros * Fully remote work with excellent flexibility. * Unlimited PTO is a valuable benefit, and I’ve generally felt supported when taking time off. * There are talented people throughout the company who genuinely care about the work and customers.

Cons

The recent 20% workforce reduction has created a lot of uncertainty. Communication about the company’s direction and organizational changes hasn’t always reached managers and individual contributors clearly, leaving many employees unsure of what to expect. Compensation also falls below market for many roles. To remain competitive and retain top talent, the company should increase salaries to better align with market rates and consider implementing a performance-based bonus program. There is also a noticeable perception of favoritism on some teams, which can impact morale and career growth opportunities. Greater transparency around promotions, opportunities, and decision-making would help build trust.

Pros

Really great culture among the employees. Pretty low stress, never had to work on a weekend. Good work life balance. Perks and pay are pretty decent, all things considered. I grew a lot during my time there.

Cons

Layoffs are always looming, nobody is **ever** safe. Stock price has been at an all time low for a long time. R&D is constantly restructuring — I was moved to a different team 4 times and had 6 (SIX!) different managers in under 5 years. Getting promoted requires an act of Congress (IF you get promoted, it’s so overdue by the time it happens that it doesn’t even feel that great). Remote folks only get to go up to the Chicago HQ once a year.
