Pros

They serve free lunch at orientation, make you feel professional and important during that time.

Cons

It doesn't matter what your role is they will work you to the bone. It's worse if your a support staff which is a CNA, UIC, housekeeping and kitchen staff. Nurses have full lane to treat you as they want. Not all the nurses degrade you there is some decent people with good standing values but be prepared to get treated like a maid. Most nurses don't want to degrade themselves. As busy as the floors get be prepared to deal with angry family members because you will be the one going in the rooms if your not a nurse and at a CNA position. Your time management will never work the hospital is always adding and changing rules to better assist the nurses helping nurses promotions. If your at a CNA role you will be the backbone. I suggest going for other support staff positions other then the CNA position because they deal with behaviors of patients and family members. The stress is extremely high for everyone in every role overall. The salary for support staff is extremely low. I suggest going to work at Walmart the salary starts off the same without the high stress levels. St. Bernards will not see you as a professional if your support staff but expect you to act as such. You won't get any kind of protection that nurse staff do.i suggest keeping your head low, don't interact much with other staff because you'll need all the time you can get to get everything done by the end of your shift. You can't trust certain upper level staff such as nurses, managers and directors they are all within the nurse support team and talk amongst themselves about other employees. Don't cause attention to yourself
