Very poorly managed institution

Pros

beautiful and diverse campus, decent pay, students interested in bettering their community

Cons

The university administration has run this place into the ground. They say they are running on "Holy Cross values," yet the highly paid administrators are the only people left standing after gutting vital services across the university due to financial mismanagement (they will blame it on COVID but President Martin remains one of the highest paid university president's in America). Management has no idea how services are run or what importance they have on student retention. They only look at the bottom line, which is their own profit. People in higher positions regularly use microaggressions that demonstrate racist and misogynistic beliefs. HR does not take complaints seriously, and nothing is done to address the irrational and inappropriate behavior of department supervisors. President Martin and his administration have run this place into the ground. I would be very surprised if the university will last another 10 years.

Pros

Nice campus in a great location, sweet students, sense of community, good benefits, decent pay, fulfilling work

Cons

It seems that there is a lack of transparency, uninformed policy and process making, upper administration that doesn't understand how work gets done on campus, and poor money management that will possibly lead the university to face serious financial problems in the coming years.

Great Place to Work

Pros

Decent pay, lots of PTO, Sick Time, and Holiday Time which makes it easy to have a good work life balance. They seem to be very accommodating when life gets in the way.

Cons

There is no paid maternity leave, this was a bit surprising to me when I first became pregnant. Outside of my department some of the other departments seem to be antiquated. Very old school with managing and schedules, at times I hear a lot of "well we have always done it this way" this can be frustrating when you have new ideas.
