Absolutely Horrible Place to Work

Pros

Several kind and friendly coworkers. Very competitive pay. Benefits are solid including paid holidays, 401k, Paid Sick Leave, etc.

Cons

Management is horrendous. I worked for the worst boss of my life. Management put together a small and inexperienced group and they expected us to perform the work of a large, seasoned team. When you did something that was brand new, they expected you to be perfect by the second attempt. That is simply not a realistic or healthy expectation for your employees, especially considering the complexities that our work entailed. I was miserable going into work by my second month. I worked 10+ hour days to try to make our deadlines. Our small group of engineers and drafters had to work on well over ten large projects at once. Needless to say that work-life balance didn't exist. Little recognition and terrible working conditions due to the boss calling out individuals and verbally abusing them constantly in front of the team. High employee turnover (another engineer was hired and left the company within two months). I wish I was exaggerating, but this was honestly the worst professional work experience in my career.

Pros

Stantec has a lighthearted office culture with some amazing people. The employees interact with one another which is great for moral. They offer flexible schedules which provides for a solid work-life balance. There is opportunity for software training and field experience. Since they are a global engineering firm, you can work on projects in other states/countries remotely.

Cons

Pay could be more competitive compared to other top engineering firms. Management can sometimes be out of touch with their lower level employees. Since Stantec is growing so rapidly, decisions may sometimes favor investors rather than employees.

Pros

Nice people to work with

Cons

very long hours. Company puts too much emphasis on covering their own bases than the needs of employees Stantec Logo Does not "Put People First" or "Do What is Right" - company is too large to really focus on actually practicing what they preach no real career growth
