Fun place to work, some downtime, learned a lot about dealing with a customer and how to sell. How the customer thinks and reacts in certain situations. Will never shop retail the same way again.

Cons

Low pay, Goals needed in order to earn compensation are extremely difficult for a lower revenue store.

Pros

-store-level management is great -excellent community among associates -team based environment -good benefits for full-time employees -part time employees get 1-week paid vacation after first year, which is practically unheard of elsewhere

Cons

-upper management is a joke...upper management thinks every store should do business the same way. however doing business in a small town with under 75k people is not done the same as in a giant metropolis -ridiculous policies from upper management, including programs that literally bully customers into buying service plans and such -25% decrease in salary for new employees started in mid-2009 -terribly behind on adapting new technologies on the employee side of the company

Overall the retail side of Staples is very solid esspacially for the EasyTech department. Depending on your managers it can be a good place to work! Great products and decent pay. mainly in the busy stores

Cons

The yearly raises suck! only 30 cents for my first year.... again if you are at a busier store then you will make more money
