Pros

The associates, the products offered, the systems in place to offer products and process orders that cannot be produced in the store

Cons

Company is undergoing changes since being acquired by Sycamore Partners last year. New metrics have been rolled out and less experienced managers are quite willing to throw subordinates under the bus in order to look good. The company is changing direction and members of management not willing to embrace them are creating a bad experience for hourly associates with a potential for high turnover. Hours are being cut and more duties are being added while higher sales goals are being required. If you are lucky to get into a good location with management support, you will have a great time working for STAPLES. Those working at marginal store locations will have a difficult time of things.

Pros

Coworkers really make the environment. Good bonuses if you reach yearly profit goals. Thorough and frequent training so you're never left wondering about new equipment or procedures - Something that's lacking in a lot of company but Staples pulls off well. Flexible and plentiful hours.

Cons

Hourly pay is low even after yearly raise. Customers tend to be tougher to deal with, especially since we have to handle their original and often times sensitive documents and have policies on what we can copy. Can be understaffed.
