Pros

Good hours for retail, most stores are not open late and not busy on the weekends. One of the few places you can take time off at Christmas although you will work a LOT during September!

Cons

If you have morals and ethics, don't work at Staples. The prevailing philosophy is "It's never good enough" so no matter how hard you work or how well your store is doing they always expect more and most of the managers have to break rules in order to make their numbers. They encourage you to take advantage of vendors and sell warranties that the customers don't need.

Pros

The employees are very nice....when staples gives them hours to work. There is a level of three managers and most of the time I was running a cash register because they would not give the hourly associates the hours so they expected the managers to do the manager job as well as the associate job

Cons

they expect managers to work 60 or more hours a week...they give them no employees to do the job that is expected and the work life balance is not there. IF you want to work your entire week with out a day off..get yelled at because the job is not done right due to lack of employee hours....and lack of training then this job is for you.

Pros

- Decent pay at manager level - Good customer relations in Print & Marketing - Instant gratification tasks and projects - If you have a good manager (DM if you’re the GM or if lower, the GM makes or breaks the experience) - Developing future leaders (when we used to have the time for it)

Cons

- Labor cuts have become ridiculous on top of an ever increasing workload - Complete disconnect from reality of what’s going on in stores at the RVP level up through home office. - Additional traffic driving services such as Amazon Returns, Express & Happy Returns, Recycling rewards, TSA precheck and more, are drawing in customers that do not shop with us and 90% of the time don’t buy anything yet it has completely overtaken the operations of stores to the point we are losing sales from our actual customers because of the line at Amazon, or the angry customers who have to wait 3 hours for TSA Precheck. It’s gotten out of hand and is demoralizing.
