Pros

Good general atmosphere. Mostly good associates willing to help out and its very different each day. The schedules are quite flexible really as long as your store is looking and doing well. For a retailer they don't really have have Christmas time which really helps with your family time at home.

Cons

The politics of advancement get in the way of enjoying the job. The way the cut the stores payroll every holiday season is a joke. The busy season for this company is back to school, so if you are planning time of with the kids for their vacation the blackout period gets in the way.

Pros

Easy place to work , no other employee or manager has a clue, so if you know even the basics you are ahead of the rest

Cons

limited oppurtunity for advancement. The company tends to hire from the outside for upper level promotions and rarely hires internally. Most other retailers I have been with will give current employees preference for promotion, but staples tries to attract the "brightest and the best" from other retailers in the hopes to steal their "secrets". There is little growth that takes place for a manager at staples. I would say that I degressed more that I progressed while working their.

Pros

I am one of those behind the 'EASY' Button!! It realy is just that easy to work there! relaxed environment, management that cares enough to know you, associates who care enough to become a real family outside of your life. it's an amazing culture for being big box

Cons

staffing will always be an issue with any retail company, ther is typically 2/3 roll over within 90 days to 6 months. the good ones always seem to stay!
