Pros

The employees are very nice....when staples gives them hours to work. There is a level of three managers and most of the time I was running a cash register because they would not give the hourly associates the hours so they expected the managers to do the manager job as well as the associate job

Cons

they expect managers to work 60 or more hours a week...they give them no employees to do the job that is expected and the work life balance is not there. IF you want to work your entire week with out a day off..get yelled at because the job is not done right due to lack of employee hours....and lack of training then this job is for you.

Pros

The best reasons for working at staples are benefits, job security, and schedules. At staples they offer great benefits for a retail company with health, dental, vision, life, and auto insurance. Job security at staples is very good as it is one of the most stable companies to work for.

Cons

The downsides at staples are favoritism, and lack of good wages. Although staples may have the best benefits, their salaries are very low at all levels from associate to general manager. Another reason is lack of advancement, Staples would rather hire outside experience and train them then hire home grown associates and pay them well.

Pros

It is easy to get away with things at Staples. The managers are so incompetent that don't even know where you are half the time. If you are an associate in the office supply department get a ladder and climb on top of the shelves and hide from customers and supervisors. Also you can sneak off in the midle of your shifts and take lots of breaks. You will need to do this because selling sheet protectors to some 75 year old that doesn't have a clue in what they want will drive you nuts.

Cons

Long grueling hours listening to customers complain. Managers that don't care about their store and don't have an idea on how to run a store.
