Pros

Plenty of hands-on learning experiences in sales, technology, customer service, and management. Company likes to promote from within, and the associates are very friendly. I really enjoyed working at Staples my first year, but then something changed with management.

Cons

Management needs to be completely redone. I work in a Staples location in North Jersey, and my general manager has been working for the company for roughly 13 years. His management procedures are behind the times, he isn't trained effectively with any technology products, and he isn't fair to employees. Schedules aren't posted until the day before, and availability sheets are disregarded.

Pros

I got to learn about new technology products

Cons

*Heavy sales atmosphere with no commission. *They expect you to sell 5 phones a week but they only carry Verizon wireless and they never advertise that they carry phone to help with sales. *Management talks to you like you're less than. * The training is horrible because they're always understaffed so everyone is just thrown into whatever position they have And forced to produce sales with minimal knowledge and when you get combative they shut you down like it's your fault. * Their Matrix system for computer repairs is very difficult to work with because if the computer requires someone to physically work on it you're reprimanded by management. Which results into a write up. Only copy center gets bonuses for sales .
