Pros

Work with highly creative designers. 9-5 hours mostly, desk are empty by 6pm.

Cons

Very top heavy management. Managers are more valued than creatives. Too many middle managers without a clear vision for creative directions. Designers churning out designs only to be rejected at the top because there's no transparency and creatives are not allowed to present their work to the decision makers. If you come in as contract, Starbucks uses talent reps such as Filter, The Creative Group, Aquent..etc. So there is no negotiating your wages. The hourly rate is pretty low for such a world known brand and will keep paying people lower than standard wages because they know people will take it just to get Starbucks on their resumes and/or told don't worry this gets you in then you'll have a chance at salary...but when I was there there were many contractors working for them for a year or more never offered salary. One was even told not to apply. I was told to apply by my manager only to get rejected after working with my team for 7 months and getting glowing reviews. If you're a strong-minded, rational female you will struggle here.

Pros

Howard leads with strong values to help the partners reach their potential. The College Achievement Plan is a remarkable benefit for those seeking to complete their bachelor's degree. Most people and teams are great to work.

Cons

Benefits for education beyond a bachelors degree is lacking. IT managers and executives do not share values and are not typically trustworthy. Moving to offshore model. Promotions are based on perception (360 feedback), not based on the complexity and quality of actual work delivered.
