Pros

Benefits Company Pays for Licensing

Cons

*Employees are overloaded with claims. *Management utilized threats to motivate creating an environment most people would not enjoy. *Between 70-80 % of our department left within a 6 month timeframe due to the work environment. I was one of the last to leave. The only regret I have is not leaving sooner. *Not team focused. *Outdated style of management - fear tactics utilized consistently. *It felt like an abusive relationship rather than a professional career - at first there are gifts and special events. After training was complete the constant unrealistic expectations began (150 + claims at once). Metrics were not adjusted even though our claims thresholds were exceeded intentionally reducing bonuses. When given the opportunity to renew my contract; I declined without hesitation and have zero regrets. They could not pay me enough money to work in the toxic claims environment I experienced while working for them.

Pros

State Farm has a great systems when it pertains to claim handling. State Farm offer a lot of benefits that other companies don’t. Their office buildings are always clean. Everyone there is friendly. Love their ERGs groups.

Cons

You will not have a life outside of State Farm. While you are in training they promote work life balance and they will help you grow within the company. We’ll that’s all a lie. You are told that your metrics won’t until 6 months end. My metrics started the first month out of training. Thank God I am a fast learner. Then you have unlimited over time that mandatory! That adds about 15-20 hours extra outside if your regular schedule. You work in a team environment. Where you have to guest what people have done if they didn’t properly document the file. They your peers are able to send feedback forms on you. Which I think that they should take away since everyone thought process are subjective when it pertains to decision making . They don’t really pay you enough for the work that you do. It’s very stressful! State Farm is a great company, but they took the human side out of things. Everything is timed so it’s extra stressful. You can’t properly help out the insured or claimant.

Pros

They pay for some college programs, that's the only pro I can think of.

Cons

This company has lost a LOT of employees over the last year. The reason the company cannot retain employees is the joke wages they are paying for a high stress job. All they care about is metrics, quantity over quality and how fast you can get off the phone with a policyholder. Other employers are paying more for less stress so I'll probably be jumping ship too.
