Can't believe the company

Pros

* Be able to say that you work on "cool" products

Cons

Everything possible is wrong at the company. Underpaid, overworked, stress, no vision, no career path, mid-management is always saying that they cannot do anything. There is absolutely no regard for employees. This year there are no bonuses, no salary increase, no nothing. People are getting fired all over the place, even though the company makes sooooo much money that you wouldn't believe.

Pros

products are cool, engineers are good people

Cons

The C-level executives do not seem to care one bit about employee health and satisfaction. In the midst of the onset of the COVID-19 epidemic, the CEO and HR department reiterated that everyone was expected to come into the office, regardless of the harm they could cause by further spreading the contagious and deadly virus. Despite the clear unrest and dissatisfaction among all of the employees, management did nothing to explain their decision, and in some cases reprimanded employees who dared to defy the mandate to come to the office. Management may have been convinced that their employees could not be productive working from home, which is frankly an unprecedented and antiquated stance in the year 2020. This generated a clear divide between low/mid-level employees and upper management, which fosters a toxic work environment. Following this fiasco, the business naturally took on a financial burden due to the cancellation of all sports. However, instead of doubling down on its engineering organization in order to meet deliverables and continue growing the future of the business, they cut the engineering department by over 20%, laying off at least 20 people. These engineers were not all young or new, as they fired 4-5 engineers that had 20+ years of experience with the company. To my knowledge, no other organization in the company was reduced by nearly this much. I would stay away from this company if I were you, at least until some new management is brought in, or until the PE firm Vista that owns it is no longer in charge. Morale is at an all time low, and the business' financial outlook is not pretty. It's not worth the turmoil and frustration the C-levels will bring you, and you are better off devoting your talents toward a business that will recognize your value appropriately.
