Pros

You get a paycheck every week which is good. Some of my coworkers were very fun to be around and were there to suffer with you.

Cons

Stevens has to be the most horrible and degrading employee I’ve ever worked for. They treat their employees so horribly that it’s no wonder they have so much turnover. The management rules everything that happens with an iron first. The family rules every single member of the company and they expect you to kneel and bend the knee to them. If you go against their wishes be prepared to be cussed out and abused. They put too much pressure on their workers and then tear them apart even though they haven’t been trained properly. Also they have no concern for the health and safety of their employees. Covid is still going on yet they don’t allow work at home opportunities for every employee. People have gotten sick with covid and are still forced back into the office where they can get sick again. So good luck if you want to stay safe here.

Horrible Toxic Environment

Pros

It's a job and it pays (unless you're a driver)

Cons

The environment is horrifically toxic, the company is owned by one family and members of that family get executive positions with absolutely zero accountability. This results in management so mentally unstable that it was pretty common to be taken away from your work so they can scream at you and your team for 20 minutes over inane nonsense. 5 days PTO, hope your kids don't get sick. Horrible and expensive insurance. Drivers constantly get cheated out of pay and Stevens has been sued countless times over it. They can get so inhumane that they were forced to payout a veteran who sued them when they refused him employment because he was in a wheelchair and the position could have easily accommodate it.

Pros

Based on your own work ethic, you’ll get the miles. If you’re lazy and put in the minimum then you’ll get the minimum. Work hard, On time delivery then you’ll get the long good miles. It’s all about your attitude and learning to play the game. Great training company, you’ll get amazing experience with hands on guidance from managers who do seem to care. Safety Department can be anal about details but are also understanding. Show that you can run hard and do it safely, then you’ll be left alone. Be reckless then you’ll be monitored. STEVENS doesn’t mess around with Safety. I run an average of 2,800-4,000 miles a week solo...now that I’m a Trainer, it’s a bit higher. Build your reputation as reliable and safe then you’ll get the miles.

Cons

Their Safety Department is very tough, for good reason, yes—but they can be sometimes a little overboard. Weekend Dispatch and managers are an absolute joke. Seriously. Be smart and get loads that run you through Friday night and Monday morning. There’s over 2,800 drivers driving all over the country and maybe ten staff employees working on the weekends. Come 5pm, headquarters becomes a ghost town but the drivers are still working 24/7. Perhaps hire a few more Driver Managers and Dispatchers for the weekend, maybe? Driver Managers, it’s a flip of the coin. Mine is amazing and genuinely cares. He takes care of me and gets me what I need. But he’s overwhelmed daily with 67 drivers to manage. That’s on the low end. I’ve known other DMs with over 75 drivers on their fleets. So, expect communication to be difficult during different aspects of the day/week.
