That first year is a hard one isn’t it! As with any new trade, it takes at least a year to gain the knowledge you need and to adjust to the industry. Those hoops and letters that we require of our new hires are one of the reasons it looks good to come from Stevens. We carefully select all of our drivers, and then hold them to some of the highest safety standards of our competition. It’s a give and take however, we also place all of our drivers in the best equipment, with the oldest truck in the fleet being a 2014 and all of them decked out with the best technology! All of our drivers, from beginning to end, are provided with both a counselor and a driver manager to help them with any possible need while they are on the road. Without completing a year with Stevens, you have not even begun to tap into the opportunities that are available here!

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that Stevens was not a good fit for you. At Stevens Transport, we compensate our Drivers according to miles dispatched and Stevens has been recognized as an industry leader in miles per dispatch. Although mileage consistency is certainly a challenge depending on the season, refrigerated trucking has a much higher rate of consistency than many other industries year to year. We certainly try to express the importance of our drivers at the company’s greatest asset to all of our Driver Managers, but without feedback we cannot identify problems in communication. We are working hard to become more efficient and develop new policies and procedures to ensure our drivers make it home on time. We understand that time away from home can be one of the hardest parts of working longhaul.

Thank you for your feedback. We certainly try to express the importance of our drivers at the company’s greatest asset to all of our Driver Managers, but without feedback we cannot always identify problems in communication. Unfortunately, longhaul trucking does require a lot of time away from home, and we understand that it can be very hard. We are working on new ways to make it easier on all of our drivers and are making sure that our Driver Managers understand the importance of increasing efficiency and getting our drivers home on time.
