Pros

Being a family run business provides flexibility to do things on your own and be somewhat entrepreneurial. You are not limited by corporate policy or restrictions.

Cons

The family is not receptive to change “we have always done it this way” is something you will hear a lot or this employee has been with us forever. They have some employees that may have been with them for decades but the company scale and size the current work need is beyond their capabilities now. For their size and scale, they lack any SOPs or even an employee handbook that outlines HR basics, time off, benefits, etc. It is nice not to have too many restrictive policy’s but with this company’s size there needs to be at least some minimum standards and policies that would improve operations, save cost. If you are not family do not have high expectations for salary.

Pros

The majority of the people I work with are temps with just a sprinkling of regular full time employees but just about everyone has been nice to work with.

Cons

The schedule, depending on your department, is a challenge. I work Monday through Friday 5:30 to 5 and then Saturday 530 to 3 with an occasional "voluntary" Sunday. Paycheck is nice but I have no time with my family. There a lot of that do what I say or else mentality. I myself have never felt comfortable and feel like I always have to look over my shoulder. Some of the management have a tendency to scream and yell at you no matter were you are and it's like they do it just so that everyone knows they're in charge.

Pros

company offered a attendace bonus of $300 every two weeks if you were present everyday, ontime, and worked al assigned hours.

Cons

Company pushes workers to complete schedules even when understaffed. When i worked there they fired 52 people in one day with no contingency plan in place for the staff shortage. They just told us we would have to pickup the slack. That is a sign of poor management. You should have understood the consequences and made appropriate plans to deal with them.
