Just say no thank you and save yourself the headache

The customers are the best thing about this company! The variety of interactions even the unpleasant ones are a source of entertainment. Humans are fascinating. That's what makes this job fun. That being said your experience with this company varies greatly depending on who you work with and for. When you have great coworkers and or a great manager it's easy to be happy where you're at. The people make the place. The only positive aspect of this company will be the people you enjoy.
Cons
Read carefully there is a lot to take in but it is all important information if you are considering a position with this company. "Competitive pay" is wildly inaccurate.. Starting pay is $13.25-14 per hour. Assistant manager is $16-19. "Performance raises" are once a year but don't count on them. The cost of living raise was distributed in a way that negated tenure and performance raises for many people and put everyone at similar wages. Wage discussion is highly discouraged due to inequality in pay. People with years at the company making less than new employees. They do not care about their employees cost of living. They care about money in their pockets. Benefits and PTO are mediocre at full time. Non existent for part time employees.. Do not accept a part-time position with this company they will happily work you full time without benefits and PTO. You may have to fight to get your status changed to full time in order to start earning benefits you should have already been receiving. There are very few checks and balances within this company. Standards and expectations for cleanliness and safety are lacking. Inspections are few and far between and if advanced warning isn't given; communication between managers will negate a surprise inspection for the majority. There is currently an email printed out saying be aware that the secret shopper is out and about so make sure to be on top of your game. There or no benefits for success but of course consequences for failure. Speaking on management is complicated because every store is different. However given my current experience trying to cutail health and safety hazards I was told by both management and upper management yeah we know and will continue to strive for betterment in our stores. However; I got the impression that they have no real plans to change their practices to ensure customer safety. At the store I worked at there was no consideration for employee morale. Scheduling was based on need not availability. I offered to cover two extra days and communicated I was not available for the other two days that needed to be covered. I was told that the days I was not available were what I would be covering and that's what the schedule was going to be. You will be overworked, underpaid and often be unappreciated or unrecognized. This company has a terrible business model and no plans to change. This company has problems from the top down and bottom up. They have been in business since the 30's and their motto really should be shut up and work, just be grateful you even have a job and turn a blind eye to any problems you see because we don't care. The bare minimum is all you will ever get
