Stinker Stores Employment - Beware

Pros

Great customers and some wonderful employees that really care, unfortunately they are taken advantage by management. If you desperate enough for employment to take a low wage and be taken advantage of, this may be the place for you.

Cons

Some background: I have been in the workforce for decades and am a dedicated employee who has only worked for four different employers in my lifetime. I often advance quickly and do well. I have never been fired from a job. I took a job with Stinker Stores as a second job to supplement my income. Initially I was treated well, but noticed that employees were treated poorly including : • Unpredictable schedules, with short notice. Schedule may be issued Thursday for work just a few days later. • Inconsistent hours. • Expected to cover when the store manager regularly failed to open the store on time or wanted to leave early. • Expected to purchase unsold lottery tickets out of own pocket. In addition to the above, I witnessed regular issues with the store manager that amounted to theft including falsifying of gas price reporting, having other employees clock the manager out when they weren't in store and numerous other dishonest or unethical behaviours. When concerns were raised I was given the impression that my concerns would be discussed and instead the store manager was allowed to create false documentation raising concerns with my job performance. Prior to this I had been offered a full time position as an assistant manager with a fast track to manager and a match to the wage of my primary employer. My personal experience as a part-time employee and witnessing how other employees were regularly taken advantage of made this a company I could not be part of and also am unable to support as a customer. I offered to complete an exit interview and encouraged Stinker Stores to interview past and current employees about the store manager, but they chose to look the other way and ignore the problem or were possibly complicit. In hind sight I wonder if the several other employees I saw dismissed were also the subject of fabricated documentation related to job performance. So beware and take this into consideration if you choose to consider a job with Stinker Stores.
