Pros

Not a bad gig to start out at the bottom. I had a good boss and I got overtime here and the to pull in some extra cash. Moving up to assistant manager demanded more of my time but the paychecks were there.

Cons

Meeting the market on pay and benefits isn't competitive. Store manager is a thankless, over worked job. The district manager told me not to text her on weekends before 10am so she could sleep in while I worked 70 hour weeks including weekends. I walked. She dragged her feet on issues, didn't answer questions, easily upset and lacked empathy for subordinates.

Pros

I enjoyed working with people, customers, vendors, and employees. I liked the challenge of problem solving. I enjoyed marketing the store, setting up displays, rearranging and making things look new if they were lagging in sales. I also found the financial end interesting.

Cons

The management job of a convenience store is demanding and requires your availability 24/7.I was getting a little tired and in need of a change.
