Pros

In general, Stryker is a good company. Good pay and benefit's. 401K Match is second to none. Most people trying hard to do their best. They design great products that help a lot of people. Many areas of Stryker are awesome to work for, and if you're lucky enough to be a member of a good team, it can be very rewarding. I was always proud to say I worked at Stryker until the end. I would still be there today, if it were not for the CIO's outsourcing strategy.

Cons

Managers under the CIO make decisions based on what is best for them, not what is best for the company. They cover up real issues and hide them from the CIO. CIO started outsourcing in 2015 and many people have and are still losing their jobs. Those that are left - work 50-60 hour weeks trying to keeping things going. Many are Zombies going through the motions just to get their pay check. Areas in I.T. are highly soloed and is very difficult to get anything done. I.T. has highly bureaucratic processes, in the name of compliance, that add no value except for job security to the person who created them. Highly vertical command structure. No one below VP level is empowered to make any decisions. It has created bottlenecks in getting approvals for critical projects and communications blackout between those at the top and those in the trenches. The sucking sound you hear is the money being spent on a new ERP project that will take years to complete and most technical work is outsourced to consultants. This project is creating a severe budget shortage for the rest I.T. Budget shortage has resulted in no training or personal development opportunities for employees. No training or personal development limits promotional opportunities. IT HR does not follow it's own policies and concurs with any unethical practices management wants to do after they move work to the India outsourcing company.

Pros

Stryker is filled with a lot of hard working employees.

Cons

Stryker claims to "pay for performance". In reality, promotions are not awarded based on performance. Political ties determine promotions. If you are not part of the "old boys club", you will nto get recognized regardless of your performance. Training and on-boarding is very poor. New employees are expected to immediately be up to speed. If you are a talented recent college graduate, I would recommend not to choose Stryker

Pros

In the 9 years I have nothing good to say about the company. No pros to working here

Cons

This company is corrupt, unethical and represents everything that is wrong with the corporate world. They claim to be a company and helps to improve people's lives with there overpriced medical equipment (you should see what they charge for just a basic screw) They avoid paying their fair share corporation tax and import tax (using what ever scam they can, to not pay) Some of the things I saw disgusted me, out right theft of the NHS money. I saw deals that had been made with hospital to stock more products than they could ever use (not illegal, but definitely unethical. Stryker knew this was to much stock, but only cares about the money) And if you where to question anything (like I did) you will soon find yourself dismissed If you care about your country and your health services, DO NOT WORK FOR STRYKER Also - Inexperienced and unprofessional management - Managers are bullys - Spend millions and fancy buildings, trade shows and advertising. But can't provide there staff with correct training and safty equipment - Inadequate database and software - Staff in operations are paid low, so they are forced to do overtime to earn a liveable wage - High turn over of staff - HR department is a joke My advice is do not even consider working for them, unless your happy making deals with the devil P.S. Don't believe all there hype like there awards for Top 100 best company to work for. (This award is only for company's who pay to enter) If you do work end up working there save everything, emails, letters and make sure every time you are asked to do something get a conformation email from your manager and save it. Unfortunately this is a must when working their (most employees at Stryker do this to protect them selves)
