Pros

This is honestly the best company I've ever worked for. Super smart, funny and nice coworkers. A culture that supports learning. Leadership that trusts its employees and provides opportunities for growth. A profitable business, without VC investors breathing down our necks. Low stress, and a sustainable work pace (thank you scrum!). Competitive compensation and luxurious perks with a gym membership, fresh raspberries and avocados everyday... what else can you ask for? :)

Cons

The only significant downside is that there are no stock options (in the traditional sense). There's a profit sharing plan, which allows *current* employees to have a share of the acquisition price if we were bought, but if you leave the company or wish to cash out early you cannot.

Thank you for your feedback - I'm glad you've enjoyed working at Study.com so much. As a member of the product team, I'm sure you know how hard it is to prioritize given that we have so many compelling ideas to pursue. Being more focused is definitely a priority for us, and hopefully you've found the changes we've made to the quarterly planning process to be more strategic. Thank you for helping us build such a great product - we've made a lot of improvements over the last few years and leadership from the product owners was a critical factor. - Ashley

An incredible place to work!

Pros

When people ask me what I do and where I work, I can't shut up about how much I love this place. I get to collaborate with smart, capable people on interesting projects in a fast-paced and supportive environment every single day. Transparency is also a huge aspect of company culture, especially from management and executives, which is so refreshing and empowering. I truly feel appreciated, supported, and challenged. Plus, there are tons of perks: fully stocked kitchen, catered meals twice a week, happy hours every Friday, gym membership, Caltrain pass, 401(k), and more!

Cons

The only downside I can think of is that there are limited work from home days, but it's only because the nature of the work is so highly collaborative.

I'm so glad to here how appreciated you feel - thank you for the feedback. As an HR person who has worked in many types of companies, I've never met leaders/co-founders who are so committed to helping employees grow and appreciative of their contributions. They are also very generous in what they do for us Study.com-ers, including adding a work from home policy after hearing feedback from our annual satisfaction survey. Like you say, the collaborative nature of our work makes it difficult to all be in different places, but hopefully the new work from home policy gives employees the flexibility they asked for without interfering with the work culture. - Ashley

Pros

Smart group of people that are making education accessible. Agile/scrum framework- culture of learning and transparency supported from the top down.

Cons

The business needs of the company are growing so fast that internal resources are sometimes limited.

We're really proud that we've incorporated agile across our entire organization, from engineering to content and even ops. We're one of the few companies to have embraced agile so completely. The Agile framework has allowed us to grow really quickly and we're working to continue filling gaps that exist so that the company can fully support the initiative teams. If you see an opportunity to help or contribute more, please let us know. We're always looking for ways to leverage our talented team members.
