Pros

Family first culture! Every department manager has a "how can I help" mentality. Suggestions for efficiency improvements are taken seriously. This company is very Customer-Centric, meaning they focus on making sure the Loan Officers (aka the customers) are well supported, by making sure the support staff is encouraged and also well supported. We are all ONE TEAM and are working for the same end goal - to help families achieve their homeownership objectives.

Cons

No real cons....other than benefits are a bit on the pricey side...but I've worked at other companies that are much more expensive.

Pros

From the executive team to the managers and operations staff, we get things done to support the Loan Officers who are working hard every single day to close deals. This company runs efficiently, effectively, and treats its employees with the utmost respect. We are in constant communication with management. Everyone helps each other and we work as a team to support our sales team. I have worked at other mortgage companies and SMP is hands down the best company to work for (culture, compliance, effective metrics-based management etc etc ).The company really adjusted to the new mortgage realities. It has put in place metrics-based management that has helped everyone stay on track in the most effective and efficient manner.

None if they don’t like you

Cons

If the president of the company doesn’t like you, you’re going to be fired no matter how well you do your job. Loan officers can talk down to you and berate you and nothing will be done if they’re high producing LO’s. They will cut your pay and tell you you’ll get it back but you won’t. They treat the ops team horribly while LO’s get all expense paid trips each year.
