It all depends-but a great place to learn/gain experience
Pros
Each department is a bit different, so it's difficult to generalize. Mine felt like a family. Great training available, but can be inconsistent depending on department. Onboard training phenomenal. There is some room for career and skill development, but not necessarily advancement or pay increase based on improvement. Good benefits. Good paid leave. 401K matching opportunities. My management was incredible -again depends on department Overall culture and coworkers were amazing. If you did well and were willing to try new things, you became well respected and recognized for that. Front-line employee feedback and input was important to management and listened to. All employees were considered valuable members of the team. Although there are a lot of cons to the company, I was glad to have worked there and gained valuable experience. In my particular department, it was a family and everyone was treated with dignity and respect. Not all doctors are willing to educate entry-level employees, but my department docs were, which gave me valuable knowledge when it came to helping and understanding the patients.
Cons
I may be outdated in my info ( I left over a year ago), but at the time hourly pay was lower than most other firms in the area, especially for entry-level positions. There was not a pay range that you could advance within based on experience or continuing education courses. Raises were dependent only on performance evaluations and were very small increases (1.5%-2.5/3% which was equivalent to about .30-.40 cents/hour per year for most entry-level jobs); no pay increases based on standard inflation rates. Not many opportunities to advance. Opportunities for some lateral movement, but not much pay difference. No education assistance to improve skills (I can't speak for techs and Medical Assistants on this though-there may have been help for them with continuing education).
