Pros

Flexitime and early finish on Friday. SOME of the people (emphasis on the some). Good enough for a short term grad job if you're struggling to find a job or live local.

Cons

Worked there for nearly 2 years and my boss couldn't even be assed to organise a leaving card or collection for me... Toxic environment. Lacks opportunities for development or perks (training courses, travel abroad etc) unless you're lucky enough to be one of the very few favourites. Have to pretty much sell your organs to be able to be promoted to Technologist for a measly 4% pay rise, not to mention the additional responsibilities required for the potential to be promoted. Some shocking management - managers / team leaders should actually be trained and hold qualifications for being in a senior role and being responsible for other employees!

Pros

Lab workers held to high standards by management, instilling crucial values (accuracy, cleanliness, time management) for those new to working in lab environments. Friendly team.

Cons

Lack of progression structure, lack of sufficient compensation, lack of significant appreciation of employees
