Pros

-Excellent work/life balance (40 hours per weeks, flexible with dentist/doctor appointments) -Some people are excellent to work with, other people not so much -Pay is competitive if you are coming right out of college

Cons

-Rotations may actually function to limit your career growth early on, as more benefits/compensation come from specialists with strong technical skills, not from generalist track -You may have very tedious rotations in group insurance

No growth. No direction. Not how a company should operate

Pros

If you're in the late 50's-60's then Sun Life Financial is for you. You're free to come in as you please and do what you want, with no management supervision. If you're slightly motivated, you can even increase your health by using 15x25 room known as the "gym" during your work time. life is easy at Sun Life. Often times employees are heard saying "Life is easy under the sun". It's the Key Wests of the life insurance industry. You get to escape reality for a bit, but you soon realize you miss being around motivated hardworking people. At least this is how the Group Premium departments operates anyways.

Cons

- Management within Group Premium Admin has never used a pivot table before and has no idea how to manage using data and reports. - Employees spend the majority of their day watching Youtube/Netflix or simply don't show up to work since most of management works in remote offices. - Most managers/associate directors within Group Premium Admin are first year managers with no prior experience. Upper management is essentially experimenting within the department. - Negotiate a very high salary since there are no promotional opportunities or raises. Check out SLF stock. You'll see why the company declined bonuses this past year. - Often times I was expecting a camera crew to run into the office and shout "you're all on Real World Corporate", and then begin to distribute consent forms as everyone finally realized how ridiculous the environment had been.
