Pros

A simple bank with easy to understand products. Great way to break into the banking industry. Benefits are pretty good. Pay is fair

Cons

Some of their technology is old fashioned. Many associates/managers lack basic competencies. Lack of "teamwork" between different lines of businesses. Too much emphasis on sales while ignoring customer satisfaction. Customer service help desk is practically useless in terms of helping clients resolve issues. Many representatives are treated like tools, doing work for branch managers.

Pros

Solid bank environment. Enthusiastic co-workers. Great place to learn about banking. Current on economic and marketing trends. Opportunities to work all over the south so job mobility is nice.

Cons

Low salary, inflexible with time off. Always working Christmas Eve. High level of sales pressure in a customer service based role. Micromanagement from superiors. Inability to move up to higher level position unless you've served in current role at least a year.

Pros

SunTrust is a good place to start a banking career. You can actually learn alot careerwise and get entry-level experience relatively easily. Most positions are either at SunTrust Plaza or SunTrust Tower, so it is centrally located in the city of Atlanta (downtown).

Cons

There are opportunities within SunTrust however successful advancement depends upon being within certain product division groups. Each department seems to take on the personality of the VP and all managers reporting to said VP. It is very easy to get pigeonholed into one area, at that point it is somewhat difficult to move over to another division. SunTrust is also very conservative salary wise, salary increases have always been difficult to come by. Get you money when you come in the door!
