"Big picture" people

Pros

Good learning environment for entry level and great co-workers below management level. Lots of intelligent people with great ideas. New leadership is focused on bringing the products up to date instead of adding features to an outdated series of core programs. There's certainly no micro-management and leadership is very good at pushing the message that each employee is helping medical professionals save lives.

Cons

There was a real feeling of hope when Roper purchased Sunquest from an equity firm. Then the changes never came. Suddenly we realized that although our customers suffered under Vista, at least we were treated decently. With Roper, Sunquest never stopped screwing the customer and suddenly the employees are screwed too: use all PTO of by the end of the year or lose it. Then the new insurance was all self-funded and no lab work is covered, and basic medications are suddenly denied coverage. A company that had had a great track record of community involvement suddenly decided to form a committee to pick which philanthropic groups to support, except they never got together and picked any at all. Suddenly volunteering at Diamond's Children Hospital was gone, sponsoring the Beat Cancer Bootcamp Challenge was gone, no MS Walk, no WIINGS for Women, no anything, unless you count a softball team. The absolute double-standard nepotism has become a joke. Sunquest must save money, unless it's to pay the moving expenses of the CEO's friends. The HR department now looks like a frat party as everyone with experience has left and it's now filled with BYU Stepford Children, with no experience and no clue what they're doing. And everyone on the executive team appears to be all about the "big picture." They all have fabulous ideas and have no idea if it is fiscally responsible or even feasible. Instead it's time to pat each other on the back and tell the plebs "make it happen."

On the bright side, I appreciate your passion and candor. I agree that is a great learning environment with smart and dedicated people united in a cause. On the other hand, you seem to have an axe to grind. We have Blue Cross Blue Shield for our Health Insurance and have continued to find ways to get involved in the community. We have not sponsored volunteers at the Diamond Children's Medical Center in many years while we have been involved with various different groups including Boys and Girls Club, 100 Club of America, MDA Walk, Pima Association of Governments Rideshare, Aviva and Tucson Metro Chamber of Commerce. As for "HR" which I lead, we have 50+ years of diverse experience and backgrounds. My BYU education and clean cut appearance aside, this is a team of all stars working hard toward a common cause; to make healthcare smarter and patients safer. Things have changed at Sunquest, as evidenced by the multiple people who have left and since returned to work here. I speak to many more similarly situated folks every week. I truly wish you all the best and hope you find a place where you will find a better fit for your talents.

Project Managers Beware - Solution Adoption team needs lots of work

Pros

Great group of very hard working people. Decent pay.

Cons

Project Management team has been losing a lot of talent due to the shift from people to revenue. Forecasting process is arcane and inefficient. Very immature organization with respect to getting a handle on revenue recognition for implementing projects; disjointed and antiquated systems. Project Management role will consume your life; horrible work/live balance - management expects 50-60 hour work weeks.

We agree that we can improve and that we have a great group of people here at Sunquest and are improving the cadence of rewards and recognition for those great people. Project Management is a critical role on our team and we hate to see great people leave; on that note our overall annual employee attrition is actually half of what it was a short two years ago. We'd love to have all of our great people stay at Sunquest for their careers. In any event, we hope you've seen an improvement over the last months and ask that you continue to provide us feedback.

So glad to be out from under the caustic management

Pros

Some employees are good people and good to work with. Benefits are of average quality and there is a small gym on site.

Cons

Salaries are extremely low, even for the area. Raises are laughable – high performers got two percent last year, and promotions are nonexistent unless you are one of management’s chosen few. PTO doesn’t roll over, discouraging trips and other events requiring planning. Sales people are untouchable, they are permitted terrible behavior and allowed to ignore all sorts of regulations and rules. Recent cost cutting measures have been absurdly extreme, leaving insufficient headcount to do necessary tasks, yet sales people are showered with gifts at every sales meeting, and they’re rewarded with a lavish trip every year. In 2016, the old CEO move the entire office to be closer to his house. The move cost millions, and the new building is horrible. The bathrooms have a constant foul odor, the HVAC system leaves parts of the building freezing, while other areas have temps in the high 80s, And the expensive new floors are already curling and peeling.
