Pros

Excellent insurance benefits with generous employer contribution, HSA with employer contribution, competitive 401K match & stock option plans. Choice of company provided vehicle or car allowance, company gas card. Highly competitive compensation, balance between team spirit and motivating yourself, excellent training and leadership. Coworkers and managers on your sales team responsive and helpful. The trainers are top producers in the company. The quota and quota ramp are 100% reasonable. Even large meetings are run effectively and provide value to my professional development. No pointless meetings. Design, legal, etc groups are also run efficiently. I love that each of the project meetings has an agenda with order of business. Connect with and help members of your community and learn something new everyday. Sunrun gets the word out to a diverse customer base with brand placement in Costco & Home Depot, purchases & generates high quality leads, and provides competitive compensation for self generated business. I also like the product mix, there is something for every solar interested customer and we work with people to find the right thing to do for them. Also, it is not sketchy, we are encouraged to provide a customer conscious experience, not forced to push sales on people. Overall, I recommend working here. The culture is excellent. You are encouraged to be brave, curious, care about people, and act with integrity. Inclusion and diversity are important to leadership. Achievements are celebrated every day we have like 6 Google group chats in my area that are all about giving kudos, appreciating each other, and helping each other find info. I feel like there is a chance for every employee to succeed regardless of previous career, individual characteristics, etc. it is really based on how much you can push yourself to be better than yesterday. I feel welcome and supported as a newer employee who is new to sales. These characteristics truly set Sunrun apart from their competition.

Cons

If you aren't good with rejection just know, you get rejected a lot. Learn to like it, rejection is awesome because it frees up time from customers who weren't that interested, extra time=make more money/make money easier. "Cold" calling is part of the job. Get ready to introduce yourself and sell the value of what you have to say. Every week I cold call for 2-4 hours to create appointments. On a related note, I am not sure but I think we cannot buy our own leads. I don't want to buy leads anyway but some people might. To get your own business you can call your friends and family, and generate organic referrals/leads for yourself as well. If you are not an effective presenter it will be hard to succeed without personal growth in that area. I suggest reading books about presenting for business. Also, practice on people you know. Customers try to play games, ask about stock prices, etc. even if they don't have any fundamental understanding of stocks. Learn how to explain that the stock indicators are healthy in one sentence. Training is national, so expect to learn about your market as you go re: competitors, zoning, solar battery, etc. Some areas are very strict about zoning. Be ready to defend the solar industry, there are bad companies out there that do the opposite of what I listed in pros.

Pros

pay is alright, they tried to have me come in entry level even though I have 5 years of experience. Once, here they "EXPECT" you to share your 5 years of knowledge with no extra pay or even pat on the back so they can make more money. One of the shadiest operations in Solar so far. Benefit are ok Commissions should be higher Never really turn off from the "job" unless you shut off the ipad

Cons

Management feels entitled to your accomplishments and your knowledge and expect you to share it with no extra pay or incentive so they can make more money. Managers are always running around like chicken without heads but not really sure what they actually do. The training from management is minimal and horrid, they expect their seniors to train their people because they are so busy. Everything you do that is innovative or insightful is put on blast to your team with no monetary exchange for these ideas, again so management can make more money and impedes your ability to make more $$ with your ideas and efforts. Leads and Opportunities are stolen by grimy people and management looks the other way as long as they are making their money. Preferential treatment to white employees who are sometimes clueless and have no knowledge who are put in managerial positions as people of color who paid their dues are overlooked. Roles are filled by family members and thus lots of nepotism and favoritism as a result. In kind, people who don't possess the core skills to be able to properly do their jobs are hired because their family member works here and consistently underproduce and keep their jobs while others are being harassed for having a bad few weeks or month. Management at least in Hauppauge needs to be swept and new people with knowledge and passion for their jobs that will put 110% need to replace them, how do you expect your people to give their all when you are only making a 40% effort yourself- Lead by example

Pros

- Working on saving planet with renewable energy - Great company from 2015 to 2017 - Emerging market

Cons

- Everyone is overworked and overwhelmed, so people who used to be happy are grumpy and sad - 2018 has been a very bad year and I don't know how management can turn things around - Co-workers constantly leaving - Non-existent upper management - Abysmal morale and sinking - Rampant gossip culture
