Pros

Free Friday lunch, some free snacks and milk, free coffee.

Cons

No concept of management, anyone can do whatever they feel. As long as the company is able to raise funds and remain in limelight the top management does not care for day to day affairs. No one cares if you come or go. Some noisy and bossy lady employees move around and practically terrorize other employees across departments. These people are held in high regard because of this ability. Your boss does not care if you have worked 20-hour days for four days in a row. He would suggest that you put in a couple more and what's more he would follow up with email questions at 2.00 in the morning to make sure that you are up and working! The IT department is worst offender. Departments like Finance are not much better. There is a constant mad rush to do a lot of things, make a lot of changes all at once. It can be frightening to keep track of all these changes that affect you.

Pros

I was shocked to see the negative reviews here, though it does seem like they are all from one area of the company, which isn't an excuse, but suggests that the company is just lacking in this one department. If you're looking for better paid engineering jobs, then I guess go elsewhere! As a start-up that is rapidly expanding, there is tremendous potential from promotions and finding your niche within the company. You can try a couple roles, create your own, as long as you have a strong work ethic and creative problem-solving skills. This is an extremely fostering environment in which you can have great exposure to and rapport with all levels of management. Your input is greatly valued. The benefits are great as well-healthy living reimbursement, company-wide breakfast and lunch once a week, and bonuses depending on performance. If you're looking, like I was, for a for-profit company that is pushing the world in the right direction, this is it.

Cons

With any start-up, things are constantly being re-done and re-scaled. That's to be expected and can be looked at as a positive as well.

Pros

Great colleagues that become friends out of the office. You are given a lot of freedom on your schedule. Working at home is not looked favorably on, but there is no clock that needs to be punched.

Cons

Poor communication/direction from management. Company values are spoken frequently, but never lived up to. No sense of job security and training/guidance is nonexistent.
