Pros

Not much really, but if you were to really reach: 1. A Friday lunch. 2. Some Cliff bars in the kitchen. 3. Free sodas and water. 4. Your standard medical, dental, and vision insurance. They've actually changed this recently. The insurance is weaker. They're probably trying to save money and sweeped this under the carpet when people tried to dig deeper. I found out that I had to actually pay for my preventive care (what use to be two free teeth cleanings a year). 5. I met a lot of good smart people that are now my friends. These were the original hires in engineering including the original VP of Engineering.

Cons

Initially the company seemed to be good. The engineering team gelled extremely well. The VP of Engineering then abruptly left because he did not want to do their bidding in creating a bad culture. When the executives approached engineering one day and "announced" that the original VP of Engineering was no longer there, they only gave the excuse that they "felt" it was for the best. After that, it was lies upon lies of why he left. The executives should know that this is not a "prisoner's dilemma" scenario. When we leave at night, we hang out and we talk. There are no walls. We were a tight-knit group. The VP of Engineering left because he wanted to create a strong culture built on respect, trust, fun, and adherence to AWESOME ENGINEERING. The execs wanted him to create a finance-like organization where people competed with each other for bonuses and the weakest player (most likely someone who will not back-stab someone) be booted out. Out of the original 14 engineers, 10 have left and 1 seems to be leaving every 2 weeks. The culture is bad and the executives are out-of-tune with engineering. These are the cons: 1. Monday morning meetings at 9AM with the whole company involved. 2. Executives questioning whether some people are worth the money or not. 3. Lots of favoritism with certain people they deem "worthy." 4. It seems that more people are leaving than being hired. Especially in engineering. Most people reject the offer because it's either too low or they are smart enough to ask the right culture questions and know that they do not want to work in this environment. 5. They do not use interesting technologies at all. 6. There is a constant complaint as to why engineers deserve expensive Macs. The executives think everyone should be on cheap PCs and if you can't be productive on those...learn to be. 7. Engineering is overworked and underpaid. 8. They have no concept on current Silicon Valley salaries. 9. They complain on not getting the best, yet never ask if they're giving the best in terms of salary and/or culture. 10. Working From Home is shunned upon and they collect metrics to see who is late or arrives at a certain time.
