Not the place to look if you want a positive work environment

Pros

-Free breakfast -Free dinner, provided that you're willing to stay past 8 pm, regardless of whether or not you actually have work to do that requires you staying until then. -Decent health insurance. -Job security: if you have had any sort of decent education, landing and keeping a position in this company would be too easy.

Cons

-More than half of the people in the company can't even speak English properly. Definitely not the place to be for those that do not understand Mandarin. -Bad management throughout the company's hierarchy. Managers and department heads mostly simply got where they are because they've either stayed at the company long enough or are really close to the CEO himself. Skill-wise, most of them don't even deserve to be where they are. -Bad communication between departments. Departments pointing fingers at each other all the time. Unwillingness to cooperate to resolve issues. -People refuse to even acknowledge the fact that their work is sloppy, and they get all defensive when you nicely point out errors in their work. -Seniority speaks far more for correctness than technical knowledge in this company - typical of most Asian companies. You are undoubtedly right not because you are right, but because you've been at the company longer than the person you are discussing matters with. -Politics rule. Even worse, they're not even trying to hide it. -Some people/departments are so scared of losing their superiority, which are baseless and unfair to begin with, to another person/department that they are unwilling to share information, and would bash people whenever they get the chance. -Lots of bad apples in the company. These people do not seem to realize and appreciate the fact that the company is already being very generous to them by giving these poorly-qualified people a chance, and they repay the company with counter-productive attitudes and sloppy work. Depressing.

Pros

1. RSU 2. Free dinner box (but you promise to work over 8 pm)

Cons

1. Pretty bad office politics. Working with each other between the groups, teams or departments just like spy to spy. Your managers, directors input the mindset to you that some people are your enemies and they can set you up anytime. You work 2. Pretty bad work culture#1. Some senior don't like to share experience or knowledge with you, Instead they watch you mess up. Also they push the assignments that they don't like to you, even it is not in the scope of your job responsibilities. 3. Pretty bad work culture#2. Watch out your inventory or stuff when you work in the lab, production, even in your cubicle. Some people just take your stuff without your permission and they don't tell you, until you found out and you are anxious like a cat on a hot tin roof. 4. They don't match 401K 5. Only 10 day vacation leave and 5 day sick leave. If you want to apply for over 3 days sick leave in a row you have to show the doctor's note. 6. No Work from Home, you have to work 5 days in the office. However, ironically, some senior has privilege that they can show up very late (noon or even just work from home)

Pros

- OK for entry level and learning the ropes as someone fresh to the industry - Free breakfast bread - Some people are excellent at what they do

Cons

- Archaic and manual internal processes (CEO still manually signs off on paperwork) - Lack of professionalism and expertise within departments - departments responsible will ignore you if they dont know the answer. - Low Pay - Toxic culture, sales teams compete and steal customers from each other all the time, making SMCI look terrible to customers. Accounts are taken and given to favorites, no proper setup and distinction between inside sales, account managers, and BD. - Lack of proper sales training - Huge attitude of "not my problem" with most people within the company, you will be blamed for everything that goes wrong in sales. - Woefully underqualified management, people love to take credit and not much else. Do not work here if you value your mental health.
