Pros

Only Pro is there are good health benefits

Cons

Stifling environment, expectation to work 10-12 hrs. per-day, always being watched, requirement to be onsite during this pandemic. Do yourself a huge favor and stay away from this company if you’ve worked at any "real" US based company. This company will seem like what North Korea is reportedly to be like. First off-I don't feel safe (health wise). SMC has the Covid19 “Essential Workers” Title, so the county shutdown procedures don't apply; you will come into office everyday). I don’t know how SMC differs from their competitors who have all done a productive job of working remotely. The CEO regularly posts "there isn’t a single Covid19 case" yet there is a Covid19 hazmat center hidden behind one of the buildings, and occasionally 2 or 3 employees are told to work from home when someone tests positive. One of the biggest Cons is that employees are asked to report on other employee’s “wrong-doings” (browsing the Internet, late to work, playing games etc.). This lends to the feeling of being watched. Upper Management needs to treat workers as grown-ups. Unfortunately, some employee's do report on their fellow workers. Another huge Con is the micromanagement is extremely counterproductive, you are asked to generate a daily status report (and pressured to report “positive” changes even when there is NO change,) and once a week a weekly report and daily status report. Last but not least, the IT Department will monitor your business cell phone and laptop patterns religiously. To be fair, it is their property, but you cannot browse your LinkedIn profile, or listen to (not watch) an album on YouTube. Your Manager will report "people have been watching YouTube" and you'll know they are referring to you. Your Manager will also repeatedly walk up and down your aisle every few minutes. My review should be heeded by anyone thinking to join this stifling company. Lastly-you will feel isolated if you’re not Chinese or don’t speak any Chinese languages. You will be in a room with other employee's and have no idea of what's being said. Don't work here if you've worked anywhere else-this is the worst company I've worked for.
