Pros

SurePayroll actually has a great culture for their employees, depending on what department you work in. I will say that at SurePayroll, lower & middle management is great and loves identifying new talent. I was willing to learn and was invested in, so have easily moved up to different roles that I wasn't initially qualified for. If you find the right manager, they might take the time to develop their employees. However, with other managers I have seen that if you sparkle/stand out they make fast moves to stifle you for fear that you may outshine them. I've worked in several different Departments, and can verify that there are a lot of internal benefits. Being a Paychex employee is great, PTO, health insurance, Retirement match, paid/free lunches and their flexibility regarding your schedule is great. Also, a lot of Departments are still able to work from home, which is a huge benefit. However, not all Departments are treated the same. Sales & Service are basically the workhorses of the company. All the other Departments try to support them as much as possible, but Sales/Service is always understaffed. Leadership seems to enjoy keeping them as light staffed as possible, for some unknown reason (probably offering low pay). I will say that Sales does have the opportunity to make a lot of money, if you hit your quotas right and get the compounder. If you are really talented, you may qualify for Paychex's Sales Conference, which is a great experience. However, the last two years their conference has been virtual, which is a lot less fun than traveling to Hawai'i and enjoying the beach.

Cons

Our Leadership team is stuck in 2012, like our software. There is so much tech debt that it makes it hard to develop new technologies or ideas cause you've gotta wait in a crazy technical queue for 2+ years so they can build something that someone thought up in 2018. Leadership has been in place for so long that there are hardly any new ideas. They keep switching upper management around instead of bringing in new talent and new mindsets. If managers don't fall in line, they won't succeed and are quickly kicked out the door. Sales & Service have the worst PTO limitations, they're not able to take time off from December - March. Seems pretty silly when the rest of the Departments are basically Out of Office for the second half of December.
