Pros

One of the only things I found appealing about working for Surya is the fact that many of your peers are supportive and enjoyable to be around. The company tends to higher very young employees, likely for salary reasons, but this can be a plus for younger workers looking to be around people their own age.

Cons

-The management as a whole presents a large obstacle to this company. Management tends to be very dismissive, condescending, and often rude to many employees. One must have a very thick skin to work here, and be prepared to have impossible task set before you. -Another common complaint from employees was poor compensation. If you do want to work for Surya, be prepared to make less than market wage. -Management claims that they are generous with time off, including comp time, but many employees are not adequately compensated with comp time. Many employees work 14-16 hours for at least a week during markets, and I have seen these employees only be compensated with one comp day after all that. -Turnover at Surya seems to be quite high from what I could tell, and this results in management constantly conducting interviews. On any given week in my department alone, there are at least 15 interviews conducted.

Surya has many hard-working and talented people who are passionate about what they do. You are correct, our employees do indeed work long hours from time to time, and yes, they receive paid time off in response. We often hear nice comments about our employees and how they respect each other. Thank you for pointing that out.

Pros

The lower level employees are amazingly hard workers and easy to get along with.

Cons

The pay is well BELOW market standards, the management has no regard for respecting employees, there are too many upper management "Presidents" who micro-manage with an iron-fist. The lack of organization makes you wonder how this company ever lasted. The owner flaunts how much money the company makes at company meetings and yet refuses to pay employees fairly then states that Americans feel they have a sense of entitlement. The atmosphere is one of oppression and favoritism. People have absolutely no sense of job stability or advancement if you are not of Indian nationality.

Surya is incrementally increasing compensation for our employees, but as a small company, it takes time. The new HR team is working with leadership to develop structures and standards, which will help improve our organizational processes.

Pros

NO pros that I can think of

Cons

Chaotic environment. No Structure. No Rules. No HR Department with 200+ employees. No defined job responsibilities and yet you will be held accountable for things that you don't even know exist! Employees are set up for failure unless you are part of the "party click" the environment here is like a fraternity with adults acting like college students. Sink or Swim mentality, you will not have any formal training to do your job. Employees here are left to figure things out for themselves and if you ask for help from your peers you will be left to figure it out yourself and/or fail. Very Negative environment. And they record everything you do, via phone recordings and cameras all around the offices. How can anyone feel secure here when they are treated in this manner? No positive reinforcement, and definitely no mentoring of employees. If you are looking for longevity this is not the place, they chew people up and spit them out. Churn and Burn. No Conscience for Humanity. Very Selfish and egotistical and in it for themselves. If you Travel with this company you will be forced to share rooms with people you don't even know, is this even legal? If you plan on using the insurance they promise that is also a joke! If you have any morals or respect for yourself this is not the place, no boundaries and no rules apply! Upper Management will ask you for your opinions and ideas yet they really don't care. No follow through and fly by the seat of their pants. They are hiring so many new people and yet have no direction. It's like herding cattle to see which ones they feel like keeping and the rest they just throw away like trash! All of the negative reviews listed here are true.

Surya hired a Director of Human Resources in early 2015 to help the leadership team develop processes and procedures designed to help ensure all employees understand their roles and how they help drive the organization. We're a small company, and during business travel, it's true, we do ask employees to share hotel rooms with the same gender colleagues (Yes, this is legal). Surya is proud to be able, even as a small company, to provide subsidized medical care, as well as life, and accident insurance at no cost to our employees.
