Lived to tell the tale and make a few friends in the trenches

Cons

With rare exception, management is arrogant, deceitful and dishonest. They spend more time screwing around figuring out how to screw people than they do mastering the basics and instituting effective systems and processes to ensure quality and to satisfy to customers.

Company embraces technology. Has the ability to ship product in an industry that struggles to do so.

Cons

The definition of a toxic culture. Very arrogant upper management. The company has a very high employee turnover rate which speaks volumes about how everyday employees are treated by mgmt.

Pros

Few. 1. Great sales and marketing colleagues who are the hardworking backbone of the company. 2. Great camaraderie amongst these team members keeps us afloat in such a dismal place.

Cons

When I joined this company a few years ago, it was with great enthusiasm and motivation, and admiration of the president and his accomplishments. Then I experienced and saw others experience the things mentioned below. You cannot grow a career or have any accomplishments here. The things mentioned below are important to know if you are considering working with them in any way (staff, intern, contractor, vendor). Cons: so very many to name -- here are a few critical ones: 1. Poor Systems, No Organization. Company boasts huge profits and growth, yet refuses to implement an HR department or proper business systems purposely to stay under any legal radar. 2. Extremely High Turnover. Fastest I’ve seen have been several released after only 1 month tenures). They do not care about improving working conditions or growing staff members -- their goal is to stifle, browbeat and suppress. If you don’t do what the president and his leadership team says or if you can;t read their minds, you’ll be fired and they’ll attempt to tarnish your reputation by saying there is something wrong with you despite your excellent performance, proven expertise, good name and reputation. 3. Abusive & Insecure Leaders; Low Morale. The environment is hateful, backstabbing, belittling, contradictory. Staff may be fired at a moment's notice if they speak up or ask valid questions that unintentionally "show up" the leadership. 4. Micromanagement, Contradictory Direction. Leadership team members look over everyone's shoulders with extreme passive aggression, mistrust and disrespect. They don't make clear decisions and don't agree amongst themselves and place those tasked with executing in the middle, which does not allow staff to execute projects properly. Staff tasked with executing get blamed for not doing things right. You are not allowed to collaborate or seek information needed to complete your tasks. 5. No Communication of Business Strategy. This has been requested repeatedly by previous and current staff members and directors, but it is never shared -- very odd and counterproductive. The leadership is always measuring itself (incorrectly) against other businesses like Coca-Cola. Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, Nike, Yahoo, Nourisan, Jaipur… the list goes on – but they are not on the level of any of those companies/brands. Leadership changes thier minds constantly on the hour, every hour, literally trying to emulate everyone else. They are confused about being B2B and/or B2C, confusing messages and strategies. 6. Immature Leadership Team. None of them have been formally trained in their jobs or disciplines and they don't have any experience in the industry, yet they belittle and hinder, holding back those who do. Some of them have yelled at other staff in group meetings and on email in an unprofessional, unwarranted and extremely disrespectful manner. They are not open-minded and think they know everything. They actually discourage collaboration. **They recently fired several well educated and highly experienced professionals who were improving the business and were well liked by colleagues and the teams they led -- they did this in barely 2 months, but were let go abruptly -- adding to the recent turnovers of a PR manager, Marketing Manager, Creative Director and Product Development Director -- all of whom are well known and respected in the PR, marketing, rugs and home decor industries.**

Surya has made many changes, including the addition of a Director of Human Resources, since 2013. We are growing rapidly and are striving to make many improvements along the way.
