Pros

Fair and acceptable pay, good health benefits.

Cons

Company forces you to use PTO for everything. You can't take time off or even request it in the future unless you have enough PTO in the bank to cover the whole thing. They take your PTO for every federal holiday, every time you're sick, or any doctor's appointments you might need to have - it makes it very hard to build PTO unless you've been here for many years. They expect you to come to work when you're sick if you don't have enough PTO and not take any personal time or vacations for years straight. I've worked for big companies in the past and never have I worked for a company with these type of PTO policies. This needs to change. Employees here work HARD, we dedicate our lives to Sutter and DESERVE to take vacations, be able to stay home and get better if we are sick, or have doctor appointments if we need them. I think these policies are a big, big issue that drastically decrease the value of working at Sutter for potential and current employees as it largely affects the work/life balance.

You're a number

Pros

Great benefits. Co-workers are fantastic. They really do hire great, talented people

Cons

Management is awful. I can not iterate it enough that Sutter does not care about you. You are a number and your patients are a number. They make everything harder than it needs to be. Patient ratios are too high and/or too complex for appropriate assignments. There is absolutely no consideration of night shift or their sleeping patterns. Also, I don't care what they say, Sutter is absolutely a business. All they care about is money. It's evident in the way they staff us as tightly as they can.

Pros

Great benefits. Good pay. My coworkers were great.

Cons

Many managers are purely there because they have years and know people but a lot of them have no idea what they are doing and I've been a part of a few different teams that just got ran into the ground by bad management. There is surprising turnover due to this and they like to hire temps and dangle the full time position in front of them. I was one of few temps who made it through but I've seen many try to get full time positions after being told time and time again they will get it soon just keep reapplying but never get the position. They also let go a bunch of people from California then tried filling the positions outside of California and it didn't work because they tried undercutting the pay massively. They also did a lift up of about 1200 people and during the announcement of this the CEO was smiling and kept talking about how great this was for Sutter and how they will save so much money. Meanwhile people were losing their careers in that meeting and it just didn't seem like the time and place to be bragging about what a great move this was for Sutter.
