From Erin Woltz, VP Talent Management: Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We understand that rewarding employees for their hard work is an essential aspect of job satisfaction for our employees. We strive to maintain a fair and equitable compensation structure that considers various factors, such as experience and skill in addition to industry standards and economic conditions. We also formally review compensation as an organization once a year, but encourage conversations about compensation throughout the year with your manager.

From Dena Ashlock SVP and Chief Actuary: Thank you for being part of our actuarial team! Thank you for the feedback. I think our work is pretty interesting too and want employees to feel like there are opportunities to learn and advance in their careers. Our rotations are designed to ensure actuaries gain deep knowledge in our complex, regulated environment, but I can appreciate how they may feel slow at times.

From Erin Woltz, VP Talent Management: It’s hard to tell when you left Symetra, but I hope you discussed your concerns during the annual salary increase conversation with your manager in early 2023 or last fall’s Talent Check-In. We work hard to deliver competitive pay, and we know how important good programmers are to Symetra’s future. If you would like to discuss specifics, please email me at erin.woltz@symetra.com anytime.
