Pros

Benefits start first day. 15.00 min wage for customer service representative.

Cons

Overworked because they are always understaffed. Have to deal with nothing but angry people who are verbally abusive and you have to warn them like children before being able to hang up the phone. Have to use benefit time( vacation, PTO) to have a day off and if you have none available you will get wrote up they do not care if it's an emergency. Very strict metrics and they also now have Artificial intelligence monitoring your tone and flow of conversation for every call. They also brag about work/life balance but they really aren't flexible at all. Especially since they don't ever have enough people to handle the call volume. In the years I've worked there I have never seen so many people come and go and I have worked in the retail sector. While they brag about benefits they are mediocre at best. They limit employees as well that aren't in pursuit or have a degree from doing any of their development programs which is very discriminating to an employee that may have multiple years of financial experience. They think sending you candy is a way of rewarding your hard work. Raises are horrible. I am glad I moved on.

Pros

SYF showed an amazing amount of sensitivity, compassion during 2020: pandemic, BLM, politics, etc. They acted as a caring, inclusive company that wanted to be on the right side of history. Their value set is real and lived by the leadership team.

Cons

It felt like, in 2020, there was more attention payed to making everyone feel okay, but we didn't hear alot about SYF's future and plans to move away from Retail Card businesses since those are dying out daily. There's a gap in leadership on the vision of the future of SYF. Noone has a vision that has been articulated to associates, which makes me think there is none. Company is constantly reactive, not proactively moving into a deliberate direction.
