Pros

Great benefits such as good dental/medical, as well as free/discounted college admission. Great basketball team too!

Cons

Syracuse University has a terrible history of racism - not only with their faculty, but also with the Alumni. African-Americans only take up roughly 9% of the total alumni. Add that with last year's #notagainsu movement where SU blantant racist actions have caused the expulsion of multiple African-Americans, but you also have people spray painting swastikas and the N word on random walls. Even in the place where I work, you have faculty doing the same thing. There's very little diversity here. It's mostly white smiling faces. Where I work, there's about 80 or 90 people total, but only 4 people of color including myself. Previous African-Americans who worked in my department have all left because of the constant berating the surrounding staff has put them through, and I'll be one of those people leaving soon.

Pros

Full-time employees get 4 weeks vacation You get Xmas Eve - New Year's Day off You get tuition remission for dependents and some for yourself

Cons

I've worked here for 7 years and they are always very understaffed in my department, so they overwork you A LOT. I am extremely burnt out. The pay isn't great, but the benefits are supposed to make up for that to some degree. I don't have dependents, and I'm too overworked to have time to take a class myself, so the tuition remission isn't a benefit to me.
