Large lack of structure and ambiguity of expectations placed on interns. Your performance is directly tied to supervisor involvement, if you get stuck with a bad supervisor it reflects on you instead. There is little you can do about it and complaining makes you look incompetent. Curriculum is largely a formality and not follow, huge disappointment considering it's over 30 pages long and clear someone spent a great deal of time on it. It's a leadership internship, you are expected to be a leader yet you are given no responsibilities as a leader. You could fake leadership and get outstanding feedback. Severe favoritism with internship program managers that is not tied to performance but personal preference. Lower pay than competitors for permanent positions. Not a technically internship (you don't learn a specific job) while left entirely up to you to find out what the business model really is.

No career growth, increase in turnover due to low morale and lack of career development, & poor management decisions that impact only the staff. Work/life balance is diminishing for staff while management leaves early
