Pros

The leadership has tremendous vision. The core values are used daily. TCG is committed to family and they know how to bring out the best in their employees.I feel truly valued here and I feel like my strengths are known and used.

Cons

One con (and not such a big one) is that we are not all in an office working side by side on a daily basis. A lot of us telecommute so we see each other for Quarterly Meetings and a mandatory yearly meeting.

Balancing virtual, in-office, and on-site teams is tricky, as you know. Our Core Values continue to be the common touchstone for all TCGers and we love hearing everyone's stories about where you've seen them come alive in projects. Thanks for your review!

Pros

Outstanding culture and benefits. Excellent people who care about each other.

Cons

Government contracting can be unstable. If a program is cut or a contract is not renewed there is no guarantee that you will be placed on another. While most people are great, there are a few "bad eggs" that are more interested in climbing the corporate ladder or making themselves look good at the expense of others. Instead of talking about your teammates behind their back, it would be more helpful to provide meaningful, constructive feedback. Passive aggressiveness is not helpful or emotionally mature. I suspect the motivation behind some of this behavior is due to age and/or race discrimination but that is difficult to prove. Good people have been lost due to these behaviors.

We appreciate your feedback. Government contracting certainly has its unique challenges. However, we are very focused on your second paragraph of cons, which is extremely concerning to us, partly because “climbing the corporate ladder” isn’t really an option for most positions but also because we never like to hear that people are unhappy! Please approach HR or Happiness or any executive with this information as soon as possible so we can resolve or eliminate the problems you’re seeing.

Pros

- Pay that's actually competitive - Solid benefits

Cons

- Grossly incompetent lower/mid management - Outdated tech even for government standards - No real opportunities for internal transfers - Interesting work is farmed out to outside contractors. If you're looking to do minor bug fixes and documentation for the rest of your career, this is the place for you.

Thanks for your feedback. We utilize valued partner companies to do 14% of the work on projects, and sometimes they do interesting things -- just like TCGers! But it is disappointing to hear that your work experience is not living up to your expectations. Certainly we acknowledge that day-to-day work can get mundane at times. Fortunately there are many opportunities at TCG to explore emerging tech. Reach out to the R&D Lab to see if there is a topic you can help explore and implement on your project (or your next project!). We’d also love for you to contact the Happiness team so we can learn more about the challenges you have noted and find ways to make improvements.
