Cons

Overtime rarely recognized yet expected, On-call requirements even over previously planned vacations and holidays, Lack of investment into anything cutting-edge - Expect to be working on decades old code bases and frameworks, Good old boys club type of culture, Slow to migrate to new technologies, Slow to adapt to changing culture - it has an 80s/90s corporate culture feel, Voices of technical experts often ignored when suggestions might cost $ or go against the opinions of non-technical decision makers/ management, Lack of standardization across the organization, Lack of career growth opportunities for anybody technical, for ANY advancement there is a push to go less technical, Unfair pay across individuals with the same job descriptions, experience and team value, Bare minimum maternity and paternity leave, No vacation roll over from year to year, Out of date offices for IT organization only (other areas of the company have top of the line office spaces), Massive outsourcing of IT organization If you are looking for an IT job that is relevant, cutting edge, and rewarding, this is not the place to work.

Pros

401K is great, good benefits, pay is OK.

Cons

Too much 'do more with less' You can't get all the work done above and beyond as they say they want, with the minimal resources given, especially since they are laying people all the time it seems. Too much management- I have 3 bosses at the mid level then a director and VP.

Pros

If you are in the right place, you will work with great people and have tons of flexibility. There is opportunity to learn and pay is very competitive. Over the last few years, the company has been promoting improved employee experience so what is the norm today is a much better standard than what was 5 years ago. If you are a new professional, great place to gain experience and build your resume. If you are a 'coaster', it's easy to put your head down, do your job , not make waves, and skate by. There is quite a bit of freedom at times to get involved with or initiate projects - if you are assertive or if you have a manager that is advocating for your success. A lot of TE is "IF" . It is a large - very large - company with locations throughout the world. You can work with a person for years and never meet them. Your experience will vary from the next person's because they may sit next to you but be on a different team, or in a different department. Like most jobs, it's what you make of it and you need to be sure you have the personality that will fit in with the company's culture.

Cons

If you are professionally hungry and/or mid career, you run the risk of not being utilized to your full potential. You are not guaranteed a manager that will assist in your career growth which means that you may not have any as many times, information is handed from top down and skilled professionals & lower management get minuscule amounts of info. Movement into management does not happen much, especially in some departments. There is an underlying stress of job insecurity because so many parts are moving, people don't know if their job will be around with the next round of budget cuts or if their functions will be outsourced to Asia. There is a VERY very visible hierarchy between management and non. Additionally, mid level management tends to show a severe lack of respect for those they deem inferior. Upper management is a bit out of touch and seems to have had charmed careers as none seem to have experienced the challenges many of us ask about during the forums. TE has many initiatives to improve the company as a whole. However, those people that really need to be pulled into the training are not. Things like Inclusion and Diversity are much more visible on paper - in the handbooks -than they are in practice. TE definitely has a white male dominated culture which is extremely obvious in middle management. Departments, business units, IT segments, etc seem to be very competitive. Although we 'supposedly', all work for the same company, it's every [team] for itself. There is no cohesion and there is a severe lack of collaboration in the company. Every team wants to be the one responsible for completing whatever project has the attention of management so they get kudos - any may stay off the chopping block.
