First- Your work-life balance is compromised significantly. Secondly- Your career and financial success at TEKsystems depends heavily on other people and a lot is completely out of your control: Internally- As a recruiter, you are dependent on the Account Managers, and Account Managers are dependent on recruiters. You have to sell as much internally as you do externally, IF NOT MORE, and by far, the hardest part of your job at TEKsystems is the Internal politics that arise because of this dynamic. Externally, both Account Managers and Recruiters are dependent on candidates, client hiring managers/companies, and the job market/economy. Then you have all of the vendor competitors on top of all of this. With so many people in the mix that your success hangs on, and knowing that with human beings so much can go wrong, your job is mostly out of your control, bottom line. To counter this-- you will be told that the vendor staffing business is a 'numbers game' - This means that you will fail most of the time, so, you have to have enough activity and 'numbers' to beat the odds to make a placement. This is why work-life balance gets skewed, but hey, this is Sales. Fourthly, the benefits package (Health-Medical, 401k, profit-sharing, etc.), is fairly weak relative to other companies generally in my opinion. Lastly, as a recruiter or account manager in the vendor staffing world, I've seen so many people become trapped. It is very difficult to leverage your experience at TEKsystems in other fields or career areas outside of staffing.
